MMHA:  Fostering the Spirit of Community

The Morningside-Meadows Homeowners' Association (MMHA) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for our residents, resolving issues, enhancing property values, and working with homeowners and city officials to make our neighborhood one of the Tampa Bay area's best places to live and play.

Our Homeowner's Association meets the first Wednesday of each month, except July. Meetings are held at 7:00pm at the Morningside Recreation Complex, 2400 Harn Boulevard (click here for map) and are open to everyone.

Membership in our HOA is only $30 per calendar year, and may be paid online here or by mail. Voting rights and participation in our e-mail alert system are reserved exclusively for homeowners with paid HOA memberships.

Board of Directors

MMHA board members are elected to two-year terms on a staggered basis. Residents are represented by eight Area Directors (see map here to determine your area location), and are encouraged to contact their Area Director with immediate questions or concerns.  The current listing of MMHA Officers and Directors and their contact information can be found in the monthly newsletter; you may also contact the association by clicking here.

History and Accomplishments

MMHA was organized by concerned and involved residents in 1973. Over the years, we've worked with homeowners and residents to improve and enhance the neighborhood.  Accomplishments include:

Providing pedestrian access to the McMullen Tennis Complex from Flushing Avenue.

Lobbying for the city's purchase of the tennis courts, pool and recreation center.

Leading the fight against the building of a limited access roadway – the Pinellas Parkway – through Morningside.

Leading efforts to establish the Clearwater Neighborhoods Coalition, a group of neighborhood associations that addresses city-wide issues and concerns.

Lobbying to get the extension of Druid Road from Belcher to US 19.

Lobbying the city to build the Clearwater East Branch of the Public Library.

Lobbying for the installation of stop signs along Harn Boulevard and providing input for the comprehensive neighborhood traffic calming project installed by the city.

Lobbying to prevent the widening of Belcher Road south of Gulf-to-Bay to seven lanes.

Purchasing new entrance signs with financial assistance from the Clearwater Gas Company, and later updating the signs' lighting from gas to electricity.

In recent years, MMHA has:

Successfully lobbied city officials for more family-friendly pool hours, including nights and weekends. In 2014, MMHA successfully lobbied the city to expand the operating calendar for all Clearwater outdoor municipal pools, adding an additional six weekends to the season.

Established the Jack and Phoebe Moss Beautification Fund to enhance our neighborhood entrances and other common areas.

Worked closely with Clearwater Code Enforcement to resolve disputes and correct code violations.

Fostered an ongoing positive relationship with the Clearwater Police Department, leading to increased traffic patrols and police presence in our area.

Updated the association website and e-mail alert system, and launched the MMHA Facebook page to provide a single on-line resource for late-breaking neighborhood news.

Successfully lobbied the city council to make the new Morningside Recreation Complex a reality.

Community Events

MMHA sponsors several neighborhood events each year, including:

Annual Picnic and Pool Party

Held each spring at Morningside Pool in conjunction with Clearwater Neighborhoods Day.

Good Neighbor Awards

Holiday Lights Awards

Holiday Hayride

A Morningside-Meadows tradition, held in mid-December.  Horse-drawn hay rides depart from the Morningside Recreation Complex.  Other activities include arts and crafts, music and holiday refreshments.

Christmas Eve Luminaria Display

Coordinated with the assistance of local Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops, all residents are encouraged to share the spirit of the season by placing bag-and-candle luminaria along the sidewalk in front of their homes.
